Plans include Recycling Boutique, "Project Green," kids activities, more Elmhurst, IL -- On Saturday, July 31 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Elmhurst Cool Cities Coalition is presenting the 3rd annual Green Fest in Wilder Park. Highlights include fun, educational activities for adults and kids; free drop-off at the Recycling Boutique; eco-friendly product and service exhibits; live folk music; door prizes, giveaways and much more. There will also be information available about "Project Green," Elmhurst's new program to help residents understand energy usage in our community and make homes more comfortable with lower heating and cooling bills. Learn how to plan an effective energy efficiency retrofit to save energy and money. Presentation and activity topics include: reducing home energy usage; easy green living ideas; composting and using rain barrels; basic bike maintenance; sustainable landscape techniques; kids' art with recycled materials; creating rock gardens; tai chi; kids' nature walk and more. Several of the museums in the area as well as the library will hold special programs.
