EDWARD J. CUMMINGS
Edward James Cummings, age 67, of Lauderdale By The Sea, Florida, formerly of Lombard. Loving father of Karaline (Jinho Heo) Cummings; dear son of the late Betty, née Nangle, and the late Frank “Bud” Cummings; devoted grandfather of Erik Heo; fiancee of Nancy Demko Bober; fond brother of Don (Karen) Cummings, Colleen (Ed) Altott, Kevin (Nanna Rose) Cummings; uncle of Kara, Brianne, Erin, Kevin (Donna) Altott, Joe (Kelly) Altott, Meghan Cummings, Katie (Ben) Cummings, Bryan, and Eamon Altott; cousin of many and many lifelong friends.
Edward was a graduate of Glenbard East High School and Eastern New Mexico University. He retired from Cisco and Illinois Bell.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 17. Interment Private. Memorials to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (ALSAC/St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105) are appreciated.

Lori Doane-Grenke, née Velotta, age 61, of Lombard, died Aug. 19 at her home.

BETTY MELVILLE
Betty Melville age 95, of Villa Park. loving mother of Karen (the late William) Hrabacka and Patrick Melville; devoted grandmother of Ryan, Rebecca, and Shawn Hrabacka; great-grandmother of Kurt Hrabacka and Lucas Persenico; fond sister of the late Evelyn and Joann; aunt of many nieces and nephews. Former President and member of the Villa Park Garden.

GERALDINE WENTZLAFF
Geraldine “Jeri” Wentzlaff, née O’Meara, 78, a longtime resident of Lombard, passed away on August 18, 2022.
Jeri was the beloved wife to Robert “Bob” Wentzlaff of 55 years, whom she married at St. John’s Evangelical Church on May 27, 1967; dear Mother to Jonathan (Trudie) Wentzlaff of Big Rock, IL, Jodee (Paul) Baker of Lombard, and the late Heidi Noelle; cherished Nonnie to Micah Wentzlaff, Jared (Nora) Wentzlaff, Hanna Wentzlaff, Ethan Wentzlaff, Caleb Wentzlaff, Justin Wentzlaff, Mackenzie Baker, Abigail Baker, and Markus Wentzlaff; adored Sister to Jim (Roberta) O’Meara, Jane (Steve) May, and John (Karen) O’Meara; dear Daughter to the late Judson O’Meara and Della O’Meara, née Gregg.
She was a member at St. Timothy Evangelical Lutheran Church and a former member at St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday school for many years. Jeri was an active church-goer and attended Bible studies regularly.
Jeri was a “Fabulous 1st Graduate” of the Class of 1962 at Glenbard East, which was the first graduating class of Glenbard East. As a member of the first student council, she helped select the Ram mascot, school color, and fight song. She was proud to be a Ram.
She was a homemaker who enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and cooking. She also enjoyed singing and dancing. Jeri enjoyed family vacations with the McKays. She loved family parties and spending time with her grandkids, whom she spoiled and loved very much. She would cook for family events and bake her famous peanut butter temptation cookies which everyone adored, of course. She will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
