Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal defacement, criminal trespassing

July 22-July 27

A complainant in the 1000 block of S. Riverside states that unknown suspects entered the property and caused damage sometime between the above dates. The complainant was advised to contact police is he sees anyone on the property.

July 26

A victim near Route 83 and the Union Pacific Railroad reported that while driving northbound on Route 83 under the Union Pacific Railroad underpass, an object struck the top of her vehicle hood and windshield, causing

dents and scratches.

July 18-July 25

A complainant reported that an unknown suspect(s) had vandalized a playground structure at Pioneer Park sometime between the above dates.

July 24

A victim near York and Third reported at 12:16 a.m. that an unknown suspect shot an air pistol or rifle causing damage to the victim’s vehicle. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.

July 22-July 23

A victim in the 100 block of Seminole told police that an unknown suspect(s) had shattered the rear window of her 2022 white Lexus while it was parked in her driveway sometime between the above dates.

July 21

A 21-year-old Wheaton man was charged with two counts of domestic battery in the 900 block of N. Virginia at 1:42 p.m.

July 27

A 46-year-old Wauconda man was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and domestic battery subsequent to a report of a domestic battery at a hotel in the 900 block of Riverside at 6:40 a.m. Police said officers located the suspect in a hotel room which contained drug paraphernalia and cocaine.

DUI, DUI-drugs, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol, consumption of alcohol by a minor

July 27

Rashonda Frazier, 30, of Lisle, was charged with DUI, possession of a fictitious driver’s license, tinted windows, improper lane usage and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Commonwealth and Butterfield at 2:32 a.m.

July 26

Jesus Barrientos, 42, of Stone Park, was charged with DUI and improper lane usage in the 600 block of N. Michigan at 7:42 a.m. Police said the suspect fled the scene and was located a short distance away.

Brett Willis, 26, of Hillside, was charged with DUI, leaving the scene of an accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and improper lane usage subsequent to a vehicle crash near St. Charles and Poplar at 5:06 p.m.

July 25

Dominique Ellison, 30, of Bellwood, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident subsequent to a single-vehicle accident near York and Crestview at 12:48 a.m.

Dennis Roach, 36, of Chicago, was charged with driving while license suspended, illegal transportation of open alcohol, disobeying a stop sign and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and South at 8:18 p.m.

July 24

Vincent Davis, 24, of Riverdale, was charged with DUI, two counts of disobeying a traffic control device, illegal transportation of open alcohol and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Arthur at 1:21 a.m.

July 23

Kassandra Olvera, 26, of Glendale Heights, was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, illegal transportation of open alcohol, and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop in the 600 block of W. North at 10:14 p.m.

July 21

Joanna Pruszynski, 26, of Downers Grove, was charged with DUI, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and possession of alcohol subsequent to a vehicle crash near Palmer and Schiller at 7:24 p.m.

Endangering the life of a child

July 23

Miriam Rodriguez, 42, of Addison was charged with endangering the life of a child, criminal damage to property, failure to give information after striking property, driving while license suspended, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and no insurance in the 800 block of N. Addison at 7:10 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding during which the driver of a vehicle fled the scene after being stopped for a traffic stop by police.

Harassment, threats

July 20

Police said a suspect in the 600 block of S. Bryan was found to have posted an online message threatening the victim. The suspect was contacted and stated he had no intention of doing any harm to the victim. The suspect agreed to remove the post. No complaints are to be signed.

Possession of cannabis, possession of a controlled substance

July 21

Shannon M. Hege, 33, of Chicago, was charged unlawful possession of controlled substance, obstructing identification, possession of hypodermic syringes/needles and possession of drug paraphernalia near E. South and S. York at 11:43 a.m. Police said Hege also was found to have an active warrant from the Illinois Department of Corrections.

Possession of cannabis in a vehicle

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported six incidents of possession of cannabis by either the driver of a vehicle or a passenger: Shamar S. Steward, 18, of Lynwood, near York and Industrial at 7:55 a.m. July 21; Cortaya Patton, 20, of Bellwood, near York and Orchard at 11:15 a.m. July 22; Aiden Ocampo, 18, of Hanover Park, in the 100 block of N. Robert Palmer at 7:34 p.m. July 22; Jaharri Jackson, 24, of Chicago, near Berteau and North at 10:40 p.m. July 22; Jamari Goodman, 26, of Chicago, near North and Villa at 1:34 a.m. July 23; and Lamon A. Sullivan II, 26, of Calumet City, near York and Industrial at 12:17 a.m. July 28.

Suspicious circumstances

July 23

A complainant in the 600 block of S. Linden reviewed home surveillance footage which showed an unknown suspect looking through a clear glass door inside the house and taking photos of the complainant’s home. The unknown subject leaves the area on a white or silver bicycle.

July 21

A reporting officer met with a complainant in the 400 block of N. Larch at 5:03 p.m. who reported observing an unknown Hispanic male looking underneath vehicles in the parking lot. The unknown suspect was accompanied by an unknown Hispanic female in a white SUV. When confronted, the male suspect left the lot on a blue sports motorcycle and the female followed in the white SUV. The reporting officer did not observe anything suspicious or missing from the vehicles in the parking lot.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

July 27

Otha McClendon, 56, of Chicago, was charged with burglary and retail theft at a store in the 900 block of S. York at 6:47 a.m. Police said officers located McClendon at the above location who had already been suspected of several thefts here in the area. The suspect was seen leaving store with merchandise, according to police.

July 26

Cordon Rush, 19, of Hillside, was charged with felony possession of a stolen vehicle at 10:51 a.m. Police said an officer located a suspicious vehicle at a food store. The vehicle was found to be stolen out of Bellwood on July 25, according to police. Police said Rush was located inside the store, placed under arrest and transported to the police station.

May 15-July 25

Identity theft was reported at Fellows Court. A victim told police her checking account was compromised as there were unauthorized charges, withdrawals, and deposits made sometime between the above dates. The victim closed her account and is working with the credit union for possible reimbursement.

July 24

Nicholas Santiago, 52, of Elmhurst, was charged with two counts of theft near Route 83 and St. Charles at 3:43 p.m. Police said the suspect was fighting with a victim and stealing her two backpacks. According to police, he fled the scene and was involved in a traffic crash a short distance away.

Retail theft was reported at a gas station in the 400 block of N. York at 3:42 a.m. A complainant reported an unknown suspect described as a black male took five packs of cigarettes and chips without paying. The suspect left the store on foot, last seen running southbound on York. Officers checked the area but were met with no results.

July 10-July 24

Theft was reported in the 700 block of N. Parker. A victim related while in the hospital, unknown person(s) removed two gold bracelets, three checks and a new I-Phone from her bedroom sometime between the above dates.

July 19-July 23

Deceptive practice was reported in the 500 block of W. Crockett. A victim received a message from an unknown suspect claiming to be a popular wrestler. The victim sent several pictures of himself to the suspect and was asked to send his debit card information to prevent the photos from being distributed.

July 21

Identity theft was reported in the 400 block of N. Walnut at 4:16 p.m. A victim learned that a fraudulent check was cashed from his bank account. The funds were initially withdrawn from his account but later reimbursed after his bank determined it was fraudulent.

Retail theft was reported at a store in the 200 block of S. Route 83 at 5:07 p.m. A reporting officer met with a complainant who stated an unknown suspect exited the store with several bottles of unpaid liquor. He was seen leaving the area in a blue or silver Chevrolet Impala with a driver waiting.

Theft of catalytic converters

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported three incidents of catalytic converters being removed and stolen from a vehicle at the following locations: in the 800 block of N. York sometime between July 20 and July 21; in the 300 block of N. Route 83 at 7:52 p.m. July 23; and in the Elmhurst University parking lot sometime between July 21 and July 22.

Unlawful use of a weapon

July 27

Latifah Curry, 28, of Maywood, was charged with aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, possession of cannabis, driving with suspended registration and no insurance near North and Villa at 8:11 p.m. Police said Curry was found to have no insurance, cannabis and a loaded firearm in the vehicle.
