Longtime Villa Park resident Edward Bye recently celebrated his 100th birthday. Bye’s family held a birthday party on Saturday, Aug. 13. The party included a parade featuring several Villa Park police and fire vehicles that passed by his son’s Villa Park home on Harrison Street. Bye served in the United States Coast Guard during World War II. He earned two Bronze Stars for his service in the Pacific theater. Bye and his wife Janette were married for 75 years, until her death last year. They had three sons. Bye’s family, which includes six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren, joined several other well-wishers at the Aug. 13 celebration. Bye was born in Chicago on Aug. 16, 1922.
