Timothy Christian breaks ground on $7 million stadium

Timothy Christian Schools hosted a groundbreaking celebration on Saturday, May 7 for their new $7 million soccer and track stadium that will put them among the elite for sport complexes.

The new stadium will include artificial turf soccer field, lighting, sound, press box, tennis courts, an 8-lane track, and seats for nearly 1,000 fans. The project also includes Trojan Lane, which will open up ingress and egress to Euclid and Harvard to our east. The project will be fully-funded and Timothy Christian Schools will remain debt free.

Work will continue throughout the summer and the stadium is expected to be open for business in August 2022.

Timothy Christian Schools boys soccer team was 4th in State this year, the girls soccer team was 2nd in State last year, and our girls tennis team was 3rd in State.

School officials weigh in

“Our coaches teach much more than the fundamentals and strategies of their sport,” Timothy Christian Superintendent Matt Davidson said. “We are leadership-minded. We believe that competition presents challenges similar to those that every person might one day face throughout life. Although these challenges may be on a smaller scale, the ways in which we overcome them and the lessons that we learn from them are the same. Timothy Christian’s excellence-driven athletic program is dedicated to developing character and integrity through sports. We strive to promote working together in oneness, to conquer fears, to overcome obstacles, to look for lessons and motivation in loss and for humility and opportunity in victory.”

“Within the last 10 years, the Timothy Christian community has donated capital to renovate the elementary school, to build a brand new middle school and indoor sports complex, and to fully renovate the high school – all without debt!” said PJ Huizenga, who is an alum, currently a parent of a student and serves as Board president. “This project will take our outside sports complex to the next level. The new outdoor sports stadium will allow Timothy Christian to host more community building events, to host IHSA tournaments, and the new turf field will allow our athletes to train and compete rain or shine. Timothy families believe in the mission of the school and in the leadership of Matt Davidson and the Timothy Board. Our families have sacrificed a lot so that our students have the best environment for academic and competitive excellence.”

“As an athletic department we are overjoyed with the opportunity to improve our outdoor facilities,” said Athletic Director Jack LeGrand. “Our athletic programs at Timothy Christian have achieved much success and now we will have an incredible outdoor facility to match our indoor facility and we will continue to strive for excellence in all of our sports.

“The IHSA has asked us many times to host various events on our campus for preliminary rounds of the IHSA state series and we have done that consistently inside the Ward Athletic Center. We now will have the opportunity to do the same with our outdoor facilities. We can provide a competitive and safe and one of the best facilities around to host these events. We are looking forward to hosting so many more people on our campus with these increased opportunities.”
