Willowbrook High School senior Eric Veal Jr. has been named a 2022 Coca-Cola Scholar. There were more than 68,000 applicants for the Coca-Cola Scholarship, with 1,617 chosen as semifinalists and 251 selected as regional finalists; 150 students were named Coca-Cola Scholars. The scholarship winners were chosen for exemplifying superior leadership, service and academics. As a Coca-Cola Scholar, Veal will receive a $20,000 college scholarship. Veal, who is an inductee of the National Honor Society (NHS), is serving as the president of Willowbrook’s NHS chapter during the current school year. He has been named to Willowbrook’s Distinction Honor Roll in each semester of his high school career. Veal, who has applied to multiple universities, plans to double major in political science and secondary education, with an emphasis in social studies.
