AT alumnus uses success from children’s book to support Ukraine

AT alum donates books, royalties to Ukraine
Author Aaron Ozee, who graduated from Addison Trail in 2014, has donated several physical and digital copies, as well as some of the royalties, from his children’s book ‘Regulus’ to the Ukraine.

When Addison Trail alumnus Aaron Ozee (class of 2014) published his children’s book “Regulus” in 2017, he never imagined how far the book would go and how it would continue to reach audiences throughout the world.

And Ozee is now using that success to support residents of Ukraine who are being negatively impacted by the war with Russia. Ozee is sending physical and digital copies of “Regulus” to Ukraine to help ease the situation for children. He also is donating royalties earned from his book, the movie he directed based on his book, “Regulus” (regulusmovie.com) and other memorabilia, and his engagements on celebrity video networks such as Cameo to Choose Love (which provides refugees and displaced people with needed resources). “Regulus” tells the story of three tiny mice, who represent innocence and youth, as they cross paths with the titular character, Regulus, who represents the more troubling moments in life.

So far, Ozee has partnered with groups to launch a printed copy of “Regulus” into space and to bring the book to Mount Everest, the Galápagos Islands, Chernobyl and other unique locations. In December 2019, Ozee sold the production rights from his notable creation to animation group Bizarros Studio to adapt “Regulus” into an unorthodox theatrical feature. “Regulus” artwork, folk songs, street murals, branded merchandise, sculptures, video games, plush toys and even face masks for the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic have been produced by numerous creators and partnered sources. Ozee also has collaborated with prominent restaurant chains and popular consumer brands to share his children’s book.
