Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

Dec. 20

Police said officers responded to 500 block of S. Rex at 10:37 p.m. for the report of juvenile suspects between the ages of 12 and 15 damaging a street sign. Officers checked the area for the suspects but were met with no results. The street sign was found to be bent.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct, disturbance

Dec. 29

A complainant near North and Route 83 told police at 1:23 p.m. that she was involved in a road rage incident where the suspect began following her vehicle. The reporting officer spoke with a witness who stated both vehicles were driving aggressively, cutting each other off, and stopping on the roadway to exchange words. Officers checked the area but were unable to locate the suspect.

Dec. 27

A 50-year-old Elmhurst man was charged with domestic battery in the 100 block of W. First at 3:27 a.m. Police said the suspect grabbed the victim.

Dec. 22

Police said officers responded to the 700 block of N. York at 3:53 p.m. for the report of a terminated employee who was causing a scene and refusing to leave the property. The subject was advised she could not return to the property and was issued a no trespass notice.

Dec. 21

A 58-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 300 block of E. Yorkfield at 1:18 p.m. According to police, a reported the suspect struck him and spit in his face.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol

Dec. 27

Christian Crespo Godoy, 42, of Addison, was charged with DUI, improper lane usage, disobeying a traffic control signal, transportation of open alcohol, possession of cannabis by a driver and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near Oak and North at 12:24 a.m.

Dec. 25

Stanley Posluszny, 18, of Melrose Park, was charged with DUI, disobeying a traffic control device, possession of alcohol by a minor, transportation of open alcohol and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of Addison at 4:15 a.m.

Eloy Vega, 49, of Wood Dale, was charged with aggravated DUI, improper lane usage and driving while license revoked subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Seminole at 3:34 a.m.

Dec. 21

Bryant Roby, 49, of Maywood, was charged with DUI, two counts of failure to signal, improper lane usage and following too closely subsequent to a traffic stop near Route 83 and Roosevelt at 2:28 a.m.

Fleeing, eluding

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported two incidents of fleeing and eluding in which drivers of a vehicle or a motorcycle reportedly fled after a traffic stop was conducted.

Harassment, threats

Dec. 23

A reporting officer met with a complainant at 12:53 p.m. who reported a suspect has been calling hospital employees to harass and threaten them. The reporting officer contacted the suspect who agreed to cease all contact with hospital staff. The suspect was served with a no-trespass notice.

Dec. 22

A victim told police at 9:38 a.m. that they accepted a friend request from an unknown suspect and the suspect demanded money and threatened the victim.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Dec. 25

Jeffrey B. Youngblood, 35, of Elmhurst, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, no valid registration and possession of drug paraphernalia subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Second at 3:29 a.m.

Possession of cannabis by a driver of a vehicle or a passenger in a vehicle

Dec. 19-Dec. 29

Between the above dates, Jimmie M. Blount, 39, of South Elgin; Casandra Carreon, 22, of Bellwood; Mohamed Cheldi, 25, of Chicago; Dwan Gant, 32, of Chicago; Rahikea Johnson, 24, of Chicago; Ivan Mendoza, 27, of Maywood; Nestor Rosario, 31, of Burbank; Nicholas Salinske, 32, of Berwyn; and Nia S. Spencer, 23, of Chicago; were issued citations for unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver or unlawful possession of cannabis by a passenger.

Suspicious circumstances

Dec. 28

A victim in the 400 block of W. St. Charles told police that she received an envelope containing a fictitious Illinois driver’s license with her information and an unknown suspect’s photo. Enclosed in the envelope was a note explaining the sender found the license in Chicago and wished to return it. The victim reported she had misplaced her driver’s license and immediately notified the secretary of state’s office.

Dec. 26

A victim in the 400 block of N. Van Auken reported at 1:01 p.m. she was bitten by a bat in her garage. The victim was transported by medics to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.

Dec. 20

Police said officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop near York at North at 8:13 p.m. on a vehicle which was reported stolen out of Addison. The offending vehicle failed to stop and fled at a high rate of

speed last seen heading eastbound on I-290.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

Dec. 29

Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a trucking company in the 700 block of N. York at 6:46 a.m. A complainant reported that an unknown suspect(s) removed five catalytic converters from three company vehicles which were parked in the southeast corner of the parking lot.

Theft was reported at Elmhurst Hospital at 10:29 p.m. A victim told police that he misplaced his wallet while at the hospital and was unable to locate it. Moments later, the victim discovered a transaction on his credit card

account at the Walmart in Villa Park. This case is pending investigation.

Dec. 28

Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of W. Adams at 1:27 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) used his personal information in an attempt to purchase vehicles from two dealerships, one in Alabama and another in South Carolina. The victim has suffered no financial loss at this time.

Identity theft was reported in the 800 block of S. Mitchell at 2:48 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) had used her credit card information to make a purchase at a Home Depot store in Fairfield, Ala. The victim contacted her credit card company to report the fraudulent activity.

Dec. 27

Theft was reported at York High School at 4:42 p.m. Complainants reported an unknown suspect(s) had taken cash and a pair of Apple AirPods which were left unattended in a secured locker room. An investigation is pending.

Identity theft was reported in the 200 block of N. Indiana at 6:57 p.m. A victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) moved her phone number to another provider without her consent. An unknown suspect also attempted to change the password on the victim’s account.

July 30-Dec. 27

Theft by deception was reported at a roofing company in the 900 block of S. Riverside. A complainant reported an unknown suspect(s) fraudulently used the company’s information to rent construction equipment between the above dates. The complainant contacted the rental company and reported the fraudulent activity.

Dec. 26

Theft was reported in the 300 block of S. West at 7:59 p.m. A victim told police she had left a laptop outside of her apartment which was later found to be missing. The reporting officer made contact with a neighbor who admitted to taking the laptop. The laptop was returned to the victim. The victim declined to pursue charges.

Dec. 23

Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a trucking company in the 700 block of N. York at 12:42 a.m. Police said that subsequent to observing suspicious vehicles, a traffic stop was conducted on one of the vehicles. The suspects were found to be in possession of multiple Sawzall blades and significant amounts of metal shavings were found on the floor area in the rear of the vehicle. Upon checking the parked vehicles in the lot, 17 catalytic converters had been removed. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 22-Dec. 23

Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a business in the 700 block of Larch at 2:34 p.m. Police said while patrolling the parking lot of the victim’s business, an officer located a truck with a missing catalytic converter.

Dec. 20-Dec. 23

Theft of vehicle parts was reported at a construction company in the 700 block of Larch sometime between the above dates. A complainant related an unknown suspect(s) removed two catalytic converters from a white Isuzu truck.

Dec. 21

Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 700 block of Larch at 10:50 a.m. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) in a black Audi removed two catalytic converters from a white Chevy box truck which was parked in the rear lot.

Theft was reported in the 500 block of S. Linden at 6:06 p.m. A victim told police that an unknown suspect had taken a delivered package from the front stoop.

Identity theft was reported in the 1000 block of S. Euclid at 9:16 a.m. A victim told police that she received a phone call about a possible fraudulent charge on her credit card. The victim provided various items of personal information to the unknown suspect, including her Social Security number and banking information. The victim placed holds on her bank accounts and credit cards. At this time there does not appear to be any money lost.

Dec. 18

Theft was reported at a store in the 300 block of S. Route 83 at 4:28 p.m. A victim reported a pair of glasses and a travel mug were taken after he left them unattended at the above location. An investigation is pending.

Dec. 15-Dec. 16

Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 1000 block of S. Euclid at 11:37 a.m. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed a catalytic converter from their white Ford Econoline Bus sometime between the above dates.

Dec. 14-Dec. 15

Theft was reported in the 100 block of W. Diversey. A reporting officer met with the victim who reported an unknown suspect removed her debit card and cash from her purse. The victim stated she left her purse on a desk in an unattended office space which is accessible by all employees. The victim later learned there had been several unsuccessful transactions on her debit card sometime between the above dates.

Dec. 11-Dec. 14

Theft of vehicle parts was reported in the 600 block of W. Grand at 1:41 p.m. A complainant told police that an unknown suspect(s) removed a catalytic converter from his orange Ford Econoline100 van sometime between the above dates.

Nov. 10

Theft of services was reported at a car rental in the 800 block of N. York. A complainant reported that a customer failed to return a rental vehicle on the agreed-upon date. The rental agency notified the offender via certified mail to return the vehicle. The reporting officer made contact with the suspect’s father who stated the suspect had reported the vehicle stolen.

Warrant arrest

Dec. 23

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Maple and North at 1:52 p.m., Zuleydi Salgado, 25, of Glendale Heights, was found to have an active warrant issued by the DuPage County Sheriff’s Office.
