Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal damage, criminal trespass

Dec. 18

Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant who discovered a symbol spray-painted in the parking lot of an apartment building. Property management was notified.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct

Dec. 19

A 19-year-old Elmhurst woman was charged with domestic battery in the 600 block of Prospect at 1:20 p.m. Police said victim reported that the suspect shoved her and tried preventing her from leaving the residence.

DUI, transportation of open alcohol, possession of open alcohol

Dec. 19

Marquese Carter, 25, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, two counts of disobeying a traffic control device, reckless driving and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near North End and Van Auken at 1:56 a.m.

Dec. 18

Police said that subsequent to a well-being check at 11:42 p.m., a suspect was found to have consumed alcohol while under the age of 21. The suspect was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and released to his mother.

Dec. 16

Christian D. Ochotorena, 30, of Chicago, was charged with DUI, speeding, improper lane usage and driving the wrong way on a one-way street subsequent to a traffic stop near York and Church and 3:36 a.m.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

Dec. 19

Carol Panek, 54, of Elmhurst, was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and two counts of possession of a controlled substance in the 500 block of W. Grand at 4:20 p.m.

Dec. 18

Police said that subsequent to a traffic stop near Butterfield and Route 83 at 5:04 p.m., the suspect was found to be in possession of cannabis, which was not in a properly sealed, odor-proof, child-resistant container. A search of the vehicle yielded a controlled substance. The suspect was released pending charges for possession of a controlled substance.

Suspicious circumstances

Dec. 13

Police said a complainant reported that an unknown suspect parked in front of his house and took several photos of his house and a neighbor’s house. After five minutes, the suspect left the area. A red Ford Explorer later parked in front of his residence but immediately left after the complainant attempted to take a photo of the vehicle.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

July 1-Dec. 18

Identity theft was reported in the 300 block of Harrison. A complainant reported she discovered unauthorized checking account transfers on her mother’s bank account between the above dates. This case is pending investigation.

Dec. 15

Theft was reported in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at 1:43 p.m. A victim told police that while eating lunch at a restaurant, he opened his briefcase which held a bank deposit bag. Later that day, the victim noticed the bank bag was missing from the briefcase. The victim returned to the restaurant but was unable to locate the bank bag.

Nov. 28

Theft was reported in the 100 block of N. Clinton at 2:59 p.m. A victim told police that two packages were stolen from her front porch. The victim reviewed her security video which showed a suspect described as a white male walking up the victim’s driveway, picking up both packages, and leaving the property on foot.
