CHRIS FOX PHOTOS

Villa Park Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 2801 held its annual Veterans Day ceremony on Nov. 11. Students from the Willowbrook High School Concert Choir, under the direction of Willowbrook Choral Director Karyn Wolcott, performed “The Star-Spangled Banner,” “America the Beautiful” and “The Lord Bless You and Keep You” during the service. One photo shows (left to right) Post Quartermaster Daniel Thomas, Post Vice Commander Jim Urso, Post Commander Jim Blankshain, Villa Park Fire Chief Ron Rakosnik and Post Chaplain/Service Officer Michael Huston while Wolcott (foreground) directed the choir’s performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner.” Another photo shows United States Army First Lieutenant (and post member) Cesar Medina speaking during the service. Also pictured is Willowbrook junior Caitlin O’Connor, who sounded taps near the conclusion of the ceremony.
