On Saturday, Nov. 6, the annual Christmas Mart featured an art fair at Calvary Episcopal Church, where Lombard resident Daven Janis, 10, was the youngest vendor to present his craft. Daven said he has only been dabbling in art for about a month or so, after watching YouTube videos. Joe Latona, Calvary’s Outreach Events Ministry chair, said this is the fair’s 10th year at Calvary, where artisans are invited to participate. (The 2020 event was canceled due to COVID-19.) Photographer James T. Small and artist Ted Simmering were among new participants this year, Latona added, “We wanted people who create their own unique things.” He mentioned that this year’s art fair brought a record 950 visitors. With regard to young Daven’s paintings, Latona commented, “His artwork was very popular!” According to Daven’s mom, Ruthann Janis, her son donated 10 percent of his sales to the church.
