Parents information session for D205 kindergarten to be held Thursday

An information session about options for District 205 Kindergarten will be held via Zoom on Thursday, Oct. 7 from 6-7:30 p.m. To participate, visit www.elmhurst205.org and go to “District” and “Half-Day, All-Day, Dual Language Kindergarten Program” to find the link to join the Oct. 7 session. The session will be recorded and available on the District 205 website the following day.

Children who will be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1, 2022 are eligible to register for Kindergarten in Elmhurst District 205.

Registration for Half-Day, All-Day and the Dual Language Kindergarten program will take place from Monday, Oct. 11 to Friday, Oct. 22. Registration will take place online, with residency verification taking place in-person at your home school.

Please note that there are limited spaces in both the All-Day Kindergarten and the Dual Language Kindergarten program and that a lottery will be held. Families interested in either the All-Day Kindergarten program or the Dual Language program will be notified via email of their acceptance or waitlist status no later than December 1, 2021. The deadline will allow parents, who did not receive their preference for All-Day Kindergarten, time to sign up for a private school option. Tuition for ADK is $2,700 for the year. Families that qualify for financial assistance will receive a reduced fee.

Please note that Dual Language Kindergarten classes will be held at Fischer School and transportation will be provided. Half-Day Kindergarten is held at all District 205 schools and busing is provided.

All-Day Kindergarten is held at the following locations.

• Emerson

• Fischer (limited space)

• Jefferson

• Lincoln

• Hawthorne (limited space)

• Jackson (limited space)

Beginning with the 2023-24 school year All-Day Kindergarten will be offered at all District 205 schools. That will be made possible due to the passage of a $168.5 million referendum in November of 2018 that provided for added space at the elementary buildings for ADK as well as updating and renovating aging facilities across the District.
