The Umang and Paragi Patel Center, 815 S. Main St., Lombard, opened its doors to the public on Saturday, Oct. 16, thanks to the generosity of Umang and Paragi Patel. The former medical office houses the National Indo-American Museum (NIAM), which is now hosting an exhibit called “E/Merge: Art of the Indian Diaspora,” featuring nine artists from around the country, including Kushala Vora from Chicago. The exhibit runs now through Sunday, March 27, 2022, and is being produced by Tamara Biggs, director of exhibitions at the Chicago History Museum and a past president of NIAM’s board. Pictured with art by Neha Vedpathak is Beverly Kumar, board member of the National Indo-American Museum, which has its headquarters in Chicago.
