Joann Maniaci, nee Fideler, a longtime resident of Elmhurst passed away October 10, 2021 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Peter Maniaci, Jr. (2016); loving mother of Steven Maniaci, Lisa (Tom) Griess, Carolyn (Don) Cagle, and Nancy (Dan) Stoettner; grandmother of Donald, Jessica, Ryan, Mary, Kay, Madeline, and Audrey; great-grandmother of Henry, Wesley, and Amora.

Joann was born in Delmont, So. Dak. And was the oldest of seven children.  Upon graduation from high school, Joann moved to Minneapolis for a brief period, then to Chicago where she worked various jobs including the First National Bank of Chicago.  She met Peter and were married in 1958.  They moved to Elmhurst in 1966 where they raised their children on Bryan Street.  Most recently, Joann resided at Lexington Square of Elmhurst.

First and foremost, Joann was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  She was an exemplary homemaker, cook and “legendary” baker.  She cherished her time working in the Business office at Elmhurst college where she retired in 1996.  She loved reading, antiques, art, jewelry, perfume, shopping, fine chocolates and all things “pretty.”

A Memorial Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the Memorial Service at 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 15 at Elmhurst Community Funeral Home – The Ahlgrim Chapel, 567 S. Spring Road, Elmhurst.
