Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

Criminal defacement, criminal trespass, criminal damage

April 12-April 13

A complainant in the 800 block of S. Berkley reported an unknown suspect(s) used black paint to deface one of the main doors on the structure and two brick walls sometime between the above dates.

Domestic battery, domestic incident, disorderly conduct

April 12

Police said officers responded to the 100 block of S. Prospect at around 11:13 a.m. for the report of a suspicious suspect. Officers met with the complainant who reported the suspect had inappropriately touched her. The complainant stated she walked away from the suspect. This case is under active investigation.

April 11

Baylee A. Kosatka, 24, of Lombard, was issued citations for disorderly conduct/public intoxication and possession of alcohol in public in the 200 block of Winthrop at around 11:17 p.m.

Ryan K. Wiltgen, 21 of Lisle, was issued citations for disorderly conduct and resisting/obstructing a police officer, while Ryan J.  Betz, 21, of Montgomery, was cited for disorderly conduct subsequent to the report of a fight in the 100 block of Addison at around 1:13 a.m. Police said Wiltgen related he and Betz were involved in an altercation after they were kicked out of a bar.

DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol, illegal possession of alcohol

April 13

A juvenile suspect was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor and violation of curfew, and released to his mother in the 400 block of S. York at around 12:57 a.m.

April 9

James A. Sullivan, 40, of Northlake, was charged with was charged with DUI alcohol, DUI combination of alcohol/drugs, leaving the scene of an accident, disobeying a traffic control signal and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic crash near County Line and Grand at around 6:33 a.m.

April 8

Brielle E. Hawkins, 19, of Maywood, was charged with no valid driver’s license, possession of adult use cannabis, speeding, possession of alcohol by a minor and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near St. Charles and Fair at around 11:25 p.m.

Fleeing, eluding

April 8

While on patrol, an officer observed a suspicious vehicle near York and Cayuga at around 3:45 a.m., which was found to have been reported stolen out of Naperville. An officer attempted to conduct a traffic stop, but the vehicle fled from officers at a high rate of speed. An ISPERN message was broadcast.

Harassment, threats

April 13

A reporting officer met with the complainant in the 400 block of W. Third at around 4:04 p.m. who reported the suspect contacted her via telephone after previously being told not to. The suspect stated he ceased communication with the complainant; however, the complainant began reaching out to him. The complainant was advised to report any threatening messages from the suspect.

April 10

Police said a reporting officer met with the complainant in the 400 block of E. Vallette at around 2:27 p.m. who reported the suspect has been contacting her via text message requesting to meet in person. The complainant refused and has since blocked the suspect’s phone number. The reporting officer met with the suspect who agreed to cease further communication with the complainant.

Leaving the scene of an accident

April 14

Jose Gomez-Gaitan, 18, of Elmhurst, was charged with no valid driver’s license, leaving the scene of a property damage accident, no valid registration, no insurance, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and failure to report an accident to police subsequent to the report of a vehicle crash in the 900 block of N. Virginia at around 8:46 p.m.

Carlos Gomez-Lopez, 33, of Bensenville, was issued citations for leaving the scene of a property damage accident and no insurance near York and Diversey at around 8:45 p.m.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

April 13

Natalie Lawson, 19, of Joliet; Kalep Martinez, 19, of Villa Park; and Luis Rivera, 18, of Addison, were issued citations for possession of cannabis under the age of 21 in the 100 block of N. Addison at around 8:22 p.m. Lawson also was cited possession of drug paraphernalia. 

April 12

Miguel Pineda, 20, of Chicago, was charged with unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, driving while license suspended and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and I-290 at around 11:07 a.m.

April 9

A juvenile suspect was issued citations for possession of cannabis by a driver and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Michigan at around 9:33 p.m.

April 8

Jorge Rangel, 28, of Chicago, a passenger in a vehicle, was issued a citation for possession of adult use cannabis in a vehicle subsequent to a traffic stop near Vallette and Saylor at around 7:10 a.m.

Suspicious circumstances

April 12

A reporting officer met with a complainant at the Elmhurst Public Library who reported the suspect had been seen entering and exiting the children’s bathroom multiple times. The complainant requested the suspect be served with a no trespass notice. The reporting officer met with the suspect who stated he has used the children’s bathroom in the past without incident. The suspect was served with a no trespass notice and released from the scene.

Theft or burglary/identity theft/fraud/forgery/deceptive practice/obstruction/robbery

April 14

Theft was reported in the 500 block of N. Kenilworth at around 7:17 p.m. A victim reported an unknown suspect(s) removed a camera security system that was delivered to her residence via Amazon.

April 9-April 11

Attempted theft by deception was reported in the 700 block of Thomas. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) threatened to post a video of the victim if he did not send money to the suspect. The victim did not send any money.

April 10

Burglary to a vehicle was reported in the 100 block of W. Park at around 7:59 p.m. A reporting officer met with the complainant who reported an unknown suspect(s) entered his unlocked vehicle and removed a wallet and backpack. The complainant confronted the suspect as he was walking away from the complainant’s vehicle. The suspect dropped the backpack and fled the scene on foot last seen heading southbound on Adele. Officers checked the area but were met with no results. The suspect is described as being approximately 6 feet tall, a normal build, light-colored skin, wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, and black pants.

April 9

Theft was reported in the 100 block of W. Vallette at around 3:10 p.m. A victim told police that during a doctor’s appointment, she left her purse unattended in an examination room. When she arrived home from the appointment, cash and credit cards were missing from her purse.

March 8-April 6

Burglary was reported in the 200 block of W. Lake. A victim told police that an unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered into a storage unit and removed several items including electronics, collectibles, jewelry and clothing sometime between the above dates.

Unemployment benefits identity theft

According to information provided last week by the Elmhurst Police Department, police reported xx incidents of identity theft with the intention of using a victim’s personal information to fraudulently apply for unemployment benefits through the Illinois Department of Employment Security.

Warrant arrest

April 8

Police said Joshua L. Neidorkorn, 33, of Wood Dale, was found to be wanted out of DuPage County on a warrant subsequent to a traffic stop near Wrightwood and Industrial at around 3:45 p.m. The suspect also was issued a citation for speeding.
