Elmhurst Police Reports

The Elmhurst Police Department recently reported the following arrests and citations. Persons charged with domestic battery are not named in order to protect the privacy of victims. Readers are reminded that an arrest does not constitute a conviction, and that subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law. Juveniles age 17-or-younger are not named.

DUI, DUI-drugs, illegal transportation of alcohol

March 17

Darius D. Williams, 23, of Carol Stream, was charged with DUI, unlawful possession of cannabis by the driver, transportation of open alcohol, speeding, improper lane usage and failure to signal subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and I-290 at around 1:08 a.m.

March 13

LC Rankin, 36, of Calumet City, was charged with DUI, two counts of driving while license revoked, open alcohol in a vehicle, obstructing identification and improper parking in the roadway subsequent to a report of a driver stopped in a traffic lane near W. Grand and W. Lake at around 8:06 p.m. Police said Rankin was found to have provided a false name and date of birth.

Harassment, threats

March 11

A victim in the 900 block of Hillcrest told police at around 9:41 p.m. that they received a threatening text message and believes it was sent from a known suspect. A reporting officer contacted the suspect who denied sending any messages to the victim. The victim did not wish to pursue charges.

Possession of cannabis, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance

March 18

Jahwanza Johnson, 27, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis by the driver, no valid driver’s license and speeding subsequent to a traffic stop near Roosevelt and Route 83 at around 2:37 a.m.

Jaspriya Kaur, 19, of Bolingbrook, was issued citations for possession of adult use cannabis under the age of 21 and possession of drug paraphernalia under the age of 21 subsequent to a traffic stop in the 100 block of E. Butterfield at around 1:12 a.m.

March 17

Peter T. Klingelhofer, 41, of Elmhurst, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, DUI-drugs, improper stopping in the roadway and improper lane usage subsequent to a traffic stop near York and St. Charles at around 11:45 a.m. Police said a search of Klingelhofer’s vehicle yielded suspected heroin.

March 13

Nicholas Catalano, 32, of Villa Park, was charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a police officer in the 100 block of E. First at around 6:55 p.m. Police said Catalano fled on foot and attempted to discard a bag which was found to contain a controlled substance.

Anthony T. Gengo, 24, of Chicago, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, possession of cannabis by the driver, attempted fleeing and eluding, driving while license suspended, speeding and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop in the 300 block of E. St.  Charles at around 11:44 p.m. Police said Gengo was not only in possession of methamphetamine, but also had a valid warrant from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office.

March 12

Gabriel Avarez, 18, of Elgin, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle, speeding over 35 mph and improper window tinting subsequent to a traffic stop near N. Route 83 and W. North at around 8:33 p.m.

Donald McCormick, 30, of Chicago, was issued citations for possession of cannabis in a vehicle and no seat belt subsequent to a traffic stop near E. Schiller and Robert Palmer Dr. at around 7:49 p.m.

Daniel Rivera, 27, of Chicago, was charged with possession of cannabis by the driver, aggravated driving while license revoked, no seat belt, possession of fireworks and no insurance subsequent to a traffic stop near E. Lake and No. York at around 9:11 p.m.

March 11

Nadra R. Robinson, 23, of Bellwood, was charged with possession of cannabis by a driver, disobeying a traffic control device and driving while license suspended subsequent to a traffic stop near North and Willow at around 10:57 p.m.

Suspicious circumstances

March 13

A complainant in the 100 block of N. York told police at around 3:19 p.m. that they received a suspicious letter which they believe was addressed to one of their employees. The reporting officer spoke with the victim who stated she does not know the person who wrote the letter; however, she has been receiving social media messages from him over the past few weeks. This case is pending investigation.
