York’s 3,200 relay fifth at state; Hill sixth in pole vault

The York boys track team brought home a pair of state medals recently.

York’s 3,200 relay team finished fifth in the state, while pole-vaulter Brendan Hill took sixth in the state.

York’s 3,200 team of Daniel Klysh, Ethan Kern, Brian Pratt and Michael Moriarty, all juniors, ran 7:57.33 in its preliminary heat of the 3,200 relay to earn a spot in the finals and then dropped its time all the way down to 7:51.23 to finish fifth.

Hill went 14-0 and tied for first in his preliminary flight of the pole vault and returned the next day and hit 14-9 to earn a sixth-place finish at state.

York’s Richard Buehling took fifth in his preliminary flight of the triple jump with a mark of 44-1 1/2 and did not qualify for the final day.

Eric Sylvester took sixth in his preliminary heat of the 400 with a time of 51.68, but did not qualify. Moriarty qualified for state in the 800, but did not run in that event at state.
