The annual Great Prairie Trail CROP Hunger Walk will be held Sunday, Oct. 14, and now is the time to register to participate in the fundraiser sponsored by Church World Service. Walk committee members (top photo, left to right) Hester Bury, Terry Witt and Betsy Swinson invite walkers of all ages to help end hunger here and around the world. The walk (5k or 1-mile routes) will begin in Lombard Common (Grace Street and St. Charles Road) with registration at 1 p.m. and the walk step-off at 1:30 p.m. Register online at www.crophungerwalk.org/lombardil to receive a CROP T-shirt. Last year, local walkers raised $20,000. Twenty-five percent of the funds raised will benefit food pantries in Lombard, Villa Park, Addison, Glendale Heights and Community Table. For details on setting up a team or to participate as an individual, contact Bury at 630-290-1829, or visit www.crophungerwalk.org/lombardil.
