Lombardian obituaries-July 12

KATHLEEN G. ARENZ, 77

Kathleen G. Arenz, nee Hollmann, age 77, of Lombard, passed away July 6, 2018.

A visitation will be held Thursday, July 12, from 9:45 a.m. until time of Memorial Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Pius X Church, 1025 E. Madison St., Lombard. Interment will be private at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Hillside.

Kathleen is survived by her beloved husband, William J.; her loving children, William (Sue Brady), Daniel (Karen), Jill (Anthony) Surrusco, Susan (Laurie Melvin) and Christie (Tony) Grigat; her cherished grandchildren, Christina, Marissa, Jack, Katie, Sara, Max and Joseph; her dear siblings, Martha Donlan, Joanne Engers, Marcie (Bob Nordhaus) Hollmann, Thomas (Jann) Hollmann; fond sister-in-law, Mary Hollmann and brother-in-law, Tom McSweeney; many nieces and nephews.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her brothers, Louis Hollmann and John Hollmann; her sister, Rosie McSweeney; and her brothers–in-law, Garet Peterson, Kevin Donlan and Fred Engers.

Kathy was a first generation American born to German immigrant parents Rose and Louis Hollmann. She was #5 of eight children. The family moved to Villa Park from Kansas City, Missouri. She attended St. A’s Catholic grade school and graduated with the class of 1959 from Immaculate Conception High School in Elmhurst.

After high school Kathy met the love of her life, Bill. They married and raised their five children in Lombard. Kathy & her siblings grew up with no cousins, aunts or uncles nearby which made family so incredibly important to her. She cherished all of her nieces and nephews dearly and being Mimi to 7 plus was one of her greatest joys in life.

Her quick wit and endearing personality were very special. Kathy made lifelong friends from childhood, school, neighbors, careers and dear friends from working at Eastern Airlines.

Kathy will truly be missed by all.
