Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra entertains with Latin rythm

We’ve Got Rhythm” promises an afternoon of high-energy music when the Elmhurst Symphony Orchestra presents a program of animated Latin melodies in a family concert that will please audiences of all ages. The event takes place at Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 W. Brush Hill Rd. in Elmhurst, on Sunday, March 12 at 3:00 p.m. Members of the Elmhurst Dance Theater of the DuPage Dance Academy will bring George Gershwin’s Cuban Overture to life, and the ESO, under the baton of Music Director and Conductor Stephen Alltop, will play Arturo Márquez’s Danzón No. 2, Darius Milhaud’s The Bull on the Roof, and Heitor Villa-Lobos’ Bachianas Basileiras No. 9. Maestro Alltop’s explanations of the music and his interaction with the audience add to what will be an engaging and entertaining musical experience that will delight the entire family.

An instrument “petting zoo,” from 1:45 to 2:45 p.m,, sponsored by Luscombe Music, offers a hands-on opportunity to try the different instruments of the orchestra, along with other activities especially for children. Tickets for this special family concert are $6 for children and $9 for those 16 and up.
