John F. Hasser, 69

John F. Hasser, formerly of Fowler, Ind., and long-time Elmhurst resident, passed away on April 15, 2016, at the age of 69. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Jane nee McIntyre. He is survived by his loving wife, Bettie; siblings Joe (Sharon) Hasser, Bill (Patsy) Hasser, Ralph (Mary) Hasser, Mary (Pat) DeBruicker, Elizabeth (Bob) Adams, Helen Terrell and Diane (Chuck) Brammer; numerous nieces and nephews and his faithful canine companion, Willow.

He recently retired from US Airways, after 46 years of helping to make travel better for all.

John was proud of his service in the United States Air Force and was a volunteer at the American Legion in Elmhurst and at the USO at O’Hare Airport. He was an avid golfer and fisherman. John was a great friend to all. His fun loving, easy-going manner and warm smile will be missed by all whose lives he touched.

Funeral services were held at Ahlgrim Funeral Home, 567 S. Spring Rd., on Tuesday, April 26, 2016. Interment private.

Marvin M. Jelinek

Marvin M. Jelinek passed away recently. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam Veteran. Beloved husband of Karen, nee Barnicle, of 45 years, loving father of Joseph (April), grandfather of Chloe and Caitlyn, great grandfather of Brendyn, brother of Marie (the late Edwin) Eyre, Tom (Julie) Jelinek, Marlene (Robert) Reif and the late Tony (Linda) Brecka. Fond uncle of 17 nieces and nephews and 13 great-nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held on Monday, April 25, 2016, at Steuerle Funeral Home 350 S. Ardmore Ave, Villa Park. Interment private. Mr. Jelinek started as a union laborer and was later a union pipefitter and retired at age 60 years old. He loved the casinos, and whilst he never had the opportunity to try online casinos like mega88, the fact that he could win money at his local venue provided enough enjoyment to his life – more than words could say. Richard A. Butera, 84

Richard A. Butera passed away recently at the age of 84. He was a Korean War Era veteran of the U.S. military. Richard was involved in amateur hockey for 40+ years. He was Director of Risk Management for USA Hockey and active with AHAI. He was also an inductee with the Illinois Hockey Hall of Fame and proud member of the Italian American Sports Hall of Fame. Active participant in many charitable organizations and recipient of awards in recognition for his involvement. Founder of Midland Insurance Agency in Oakbrook Terrace.
