Fatal train accident victim has been identified

Elmhurst Police have identified the pedestrian who was struck and killed by an inbound Metra train on the Union Pacific rail line on Friday, October 9, 2015, at 3:20 p.m.

On Wednesday, October 14, 2015, concerned neighbors reported that an elderly female resident who lived independently had not been seen since Friday afternoon. Elmhurst police responded for a well-being check on the elderly female resident, who lived at Liberty Village, located at 415 N. York Rd. Detectives were subsequently able to determine that the 86 year old Elmhurst resident was the victim of the fatal train accident.

Police are not releasing the name of the victim pending notification of family members. This incident remains under investigation by the Elmhurst Police Department.
